Join us for an expert-led presentation and discussion on Planning and Health.
The planning system is a legal determinant of health. Planning policies (national and local) and the planning decision-making process play a key role in shaping the kind of environment people access on a daily basis.
This session focuses on the food environment and how the planning system (policy and decision-making) can help promote a healthy weight environment. It will illustrate the planning system in action with a particular highlight of how successful and unsuccessful local authorities have been in introducing planning policies, and in defending against planning appeals for less healthy food and wider retail outlets.
Michael Chang, Planning and Health Programme Manager from the Housing, Planning and Environments for Health team, OHID will lead this session.
