The event will be chaired by Professor Kevin Fenton, Regional Director of Public Health for London.  He will be having a fireside chat with Caroline Clarke, the Chief Executive of NHS London. A delegate pack will be following ahead of the meeting.  Please follow the link below for instructions on how to register.

Objectives:

This London Public Health Forum brings together public health leaders, practitioners, and their teams from across London to:

• To hear from Professor Kevin Fenton on the importance of public health leadership and opportunities for positioning public health.  How do we take advantage of system change and have the greatest impact on population health outcomes?
• To better understand the nature of organisational restructuring in different parts of the system.
• To hear from system leaders on how they are interpreting the 10 Year Plan and related policy documents.
• To consider how to get public health voice heard and recognised as key to what the NHS does.  Making the maximum impact with the minimum noise.
• To consider the leadership role of public health in local authorities to strengthen the quality of delivery in health and care settings.

The London Public Health Forum is a collaboration between Office for Health Improvement and Disparities London in partnership with Faculty of Public Health, Association of Directors of Public Health London, UK Health Security Agency, Greater London Authority and NHS England.

Chaired by OHID London’s Regional Director, Professor Kevin Fenton, with keynote from Professor Sir Michael Marmot, this event looked at:

• Understanding the health impact of ethnic disparities and structural racism, and possible system solutions through the Institute of Health Equity London report.
• Ensuring attendees have a safe place to discuss challenging issues.
• Hearing from system leaders on improving health in ethnically minoritised groups.
• Discussing what role the public health community should be playing in improving health across ethnic groups.
• Improving EDI in terms of recruitment, retention and promotion in the public health workforce and community.
• Sharing best practice and local innovation across public health community and beyond into health and care.
• Suggesting where to get further relevant information and support.

Chaired by OHID London’s Regional Director, Professor Kevin Fenton, this event is an opportunity to:

• Deepen the understanding of the public health contribution to the Smoke Free Generation policy and legislation
• Review the strategic approach to policy and communications on vaping as a quit aid for adults whilst minimising risk to children and young people
• Celebrate London-wide action on smoking cessation and harm reduction, including tackling the associated health inequalities
• Share local best practices and innovation in tobacco control

With keynote address from Professor Sir Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Officer for England and additional speakers to be confirmed.

Chaired by OHID London’s Regional Director, Professor Kevin Fenton, this event looked at:

• The current state of child poverty in London including the challenges and mitigations.
• The barriers to healthy eating at a time of rising child poverty.
• The great work being done to improve the quality of food consumed by London’s children and young people, spotlighting local best practice.
• Ways to improve baby, child and young people’s nutrition at a pan-London, Integrated Care System and borough level.

Keynote addresses from Dr Jessica Allen, Deputy Director, UCL Institute of Health Equity and Professor Ingrid Wolfe, Director of Women and Children’s Health, KCL.

In Conversation: The Life of a Director of Public Health – 
Dr Dagmar Zeuner, former Director of Public Health and ADPHL CYP lead, talks to Kevin Fenton about the role of the DPH in tackling child poverty

Panel discussion on local initiatives across London which aim to improve nutrition generally and specifically for children. These projects are a mix of Local Authority led and charity led.

Chaired by OHID London’s Deputy Regional Director, Julie Billett, this event gave an opportunity to:

• Hear from the new NHSE London Regional Director, Caroline Clarke on her vision for the future of the NHS on its 75th birthday.
• Explore how public health can enhance the role of the NHS in prevention and equity within current system pressures and how the relationship can be strengthened
• Provide tangible examples of upstream and downstream prevention and how tackling inequalities and anti-racism is being implemented in the NHS
• Identify opportunities for further action and collaboration to improve population health and reduce health inequalities
