Aim of network: To optimise the effectiveness of pan-London public health programmes in improving the health of all Londoners and addressing health inequalities across the capital.

We are delighted to announce that the London Public Health Communications Network has now launched, bringing together public health systems partners, public health programme leads, and public health communications leads across London’s 32 local authorities and the City of London.

We want to:
  • optimise the effectiveness of pan-London public health programmes in improving the health of all Londoners and addressing health inequalities across the capital.
  • consolidate our efforts across London by ensuring that at a public health system level, we are all fully aligned on key priorities, campaigns and events.
  • facilitate planning for all involved in public health communication and achieve consistency in messaging as our residents circulate through London.
  • provide peer support and sharing and learning from best practice in the challenging area of public health communications.

Who should join

Anyone involved in public health communications in London can join – including Communications Team members who work with public health, and Public Health Team members responsible for health promotion or communications.
If your organisation does not have a dedicated public health communications lead, please send a representative who can feed back to your communications team. The network offers a great opportunity for more junior members to learn about public health communications too, so they are also very welcome to sign up.

Commitment of membership

As the London Public Health Communications Network emerges we will look to consult with our members, public health systems partners and programme leads on the precise format and frequency of meetings, but initially we plan to have a virtual network meeting every 3 months.
Additionally members will receive regular newsletters and briefings each month to help with planning for public health communication priorities.

Newsletters

We issue a monthly newsletter to our London Public Health Communications Network membership.
