Date: Friday, November 22, 2024

Time: 10:15 – 17:00

Location: The Foundry, Social Justice and Human Rights Centre, 17 Oval Way, London, SE11 5RR

The event will explore:

  • Societal Pressures: How do societal expectations heighten some men’s loneliness, feelings of failure and emotional suppression?
  • Accessing help: What are some of the unseen barriers preventing men from getting support and how can we collectively dismantle them?
  • Childhood Challenges: What is the relationship between certain challenges in childhood and men’s suicide risk?
  • Practical Support: How can we better support men in crisis, including addressing the empathy gap in how society understands and responds to men’s pain?

Dr Bennett will be joined by a panel of community experts and health professionals who work with men who are suicidal. They will share insights on effective strategies and necessary changes to better support men in crisis.
