Co-developing policy recommendations

Thrive LDN, in partnership with Hong Kong community organisations and supported with funding from the Greater London Authority (GLA), is working to co-develop a series of policy recommendations which support the mental health and wellbeing of Hongkongers living in London.

During September 2024, community organisations have been collecting and analysing insights, experiences and feedback from the Hong Kong community across London.

This work has focused on the specific challenges Hongkongers are facing in relation to their mental health and wellbeing. Themes include but aren’t limited to loneliness and isolation, pre-existing long term mental and physical health conditions, cultural awareness and translation, relationship and trust with services and views of treatment and mental health support.

This half day unconference session will explore these insights through discussion, exploration and debate facilitated by the community organisations involved in the planning, ultimately opening up dialogue for the best ways of supporting the mental health and wellbeing of Hongkongers in London.

It also provides an opportunity for networking and sharing examples of good practice and strengths of the Hong Kong community in London.

About the unconference format

An unconference is an informal participant-driven event where participants decide on the topics and lead discussions, rather than following a conventionally structured programme of events. Instead of a fixed schedule (as you might in a traditional conference), participants choose what they want to talk about.

Taking this approach creates an opportunity to have open conversations with community organisations supporting Hongkongers and policymakers to unpick the key challenges faced by Hongkongers in London and come up with ways we can collectively unblock them.
