London Councils, London Housing Directors Group, NHS England – London, and ADASS London would like to invite you to a Health, Care and Homelessness Summit on 13 September from 9-10.30am (with breakfast from 8.30am), at London Councils, Rooms 2/3, 59½ Southwark Street, London SE1 0AL.
It’s recognised that housing, social care and health care all currently face real pressures and specific funding challenges, which make it more vital than ever to maximise opportunities to work together to reducing inequalities. Taking a whole-system approach increases our chances of breaking the cycle of homelessness. It reduces the likelihood that health and care needs will contribute someone to becoming homeless, or for those who already are experiencing homelessness, act as a barrier to moving on into settled accommodation.
This event will bring senior leaders together to examine current challenges in tackling homelessness, determine what’s needed now in London to mitigate risks, and identify a small number of key joint objectives for further joint work. The event will be chaired by senior leaders from NHS London, London Directors of Housing, and London Directors of Adult Social Services. Key objectives include:
Identifying key joint challenges in supporting people experiencing homelessness.
Identifying and agreeing a small number of key joint objectives/areas of focus for 2023/24.
Identifying where these objectives/areas of focus are already supported by existing work programmes and what further collaborative work might be possible; to include both pan-London and sub-regional work and any further role for this group.
