The Public Health Tackling Racism and Inequalities Programme, in collaboration with Dr Caroline Parker, Lecturer in Anthropology at UCL, is hosting a one-day CPD course on Monday 12 October 2026 for public health colleagues.
The course addresses how we collect, categorise, and visualise data on ethnic disparities in ways that are scientifically rigorous, ethically sound, and do not inadvertently reinforce the very stereotypes they are meant to challenge.
The morning will introduce participants to key concepts, including:
What race and ethnicity are – and what they are not
Racial formation
How racism can play out in statistics
The invisibility of whiteness
This will be followed by an afternoon session where participants translate these theories and principles into practice, working through real-life examples from their own areas of work.
Health intelligence leads have been prioritised as invitees, but some additional spaces are available, though limited.
This is an in-person event taking place in London N1.
