The University of Staffordshire’s Centre for Health and Development (CHAD) and the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) are pleased to invite you to a webinar featuring Bruno Ornelas, Rough Sleeping Adviser at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, and Andy Meakin, Director of Expert Citizens Community Interest Company and freelance consultant.

In this webinar, Bruno and Andy will discuss a system-wide approach to addressing ‘rough sleeping’ and Target Priority Groups (TPGs), ensuring these groups have access to and integration into support available through adult social care and safeguarding. TPGs, often referred to as ‘entrenched’ rough sleepers, are identified by individual local authorities.

Bruno advises local authorities on developing and implementing strategies to reduce ‘rough sleeping’ and contributes to policy and planning for government priorities. He also collaborates with King’s College London on research related to self-neglect and mental capacity in the context of multiple exclusion homelessness.

Andy works with public and third sector organisations on issues related to multiple exclusion homelessness and social exclusion. Expert Citizens CIC helps organizations recognize the value of lived experience in developing, delivering, evaluating, and continuously improving services for people experiencing social exclusion.

The one-hour session will include:

  • Chair’s welcome
  • Expert discussion on a system-wide focus on ‘rough sleeping’ and ensuring access to support through adult social care and safeguarding
  • Q&A session
  • Chair’s concluding remarks
