Our staff

Nicola has been ADPH CE since the formation of the ADPH office in 2007 both securing funding and developing the organisational structure and work programmes. Nicola joined the NHS in 1994 having worked in education and IT and worked in clinical governance before moving to Public Health.  As well as providing leadership and accountability, the CE is heavily involved with establishing strong professional partnerships to ensure we work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders. 

Nicola is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health, an Honorary member of the Faculty of Public Health and was awarded an MBE for services to public health in 2024. 

Isobel joined ADPH in June 2017 and, as well as deputising for the CE, leads our advocacy work. Isobel previously worked at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health as Head of Health Policy and has worked in a range of sectors from health, children and youth justice through to science and research. 

Magda joined ADPH team in 2015 and is focused on developing stakeholder and member engagement. Magda’s experience comes from the education sector both in England and the USA where, as well as working with children, she facilitated networks of leaders with an ambition to break the poverty cycle and to remove educational inequalities in England.   

Rulan joined ADPH in 2019 and is responsible for overseeing the delivery of special projects and maintaining our relationships with external partners. Prior to her current role, Rulan managed the UK Public Health Network and has a background in policy and comms across the health sector.

Mark joined ADPH in 2013 and is responsible for managing our infrastructure, staffing and resources. Mark has over 25 years experience in business and office management in both commercial and charity sectors. 

Heather joined ADPH in April 2022 to manage and develop the external communications programme to raise awareness of the DPH role and develop a more effective voice for public health. She is now Head of External Affairs and oversees our communications, public affairs, marketing and sponsorship work. Heather has a background in local authority and charity communications and has also spent several years working in educational settings. 

Oluronke joined ADPH in January 2023 to manage the current support programme and create a programme of development opportunities. Oluronke previously managed public health issues including Covid-19, Monkeypox and avian influenza while employed by UKHSA. She has worked with the ICS, NHS and is currently pursuing a doctorate in public health.

Meera joined ADPH in June 2022 as a Project Coordinator before being promoted in September 2023. Meera is now responsible for managing and developing our Practice Improvement Programme. 

After completing her Master’s in Public Health, Meera worked in Health Promotion within local government working towards improving health and wellbeing at a community level. 

Annabel joined ADPH in September 2022 to establish, develop and manage our new public affairs function. Annabel has previously worked to address public health priorities at a global and European level, most recently for Obesity and Covid-19 and has a range of experience working across healthcare and public affairs. 

Chloe started with ADPH in April 2023 as a Project Administrator after graduating with a degree in History and Political Science, having worked in Claims, Rehab and Medical Services for an income protection insurance company. Chloe also has previous experience in the heritage sector, and in a range of local voluntary roles and is now our Engagement Manager.

John joined ADPH in 2025 as our Communications and Marketing Manager, bringing wide ranging communications experience from science and medical membership organisations, and higher education. Prior to working with us, he has held communications roles at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, the London Mathematical Society and the Royal Society of Chemistry, promoting science, medical and policy issues to a wide range of stakeholders. John also holds a PhD in Chemistry.

Annie joined ADPH in 2024 as our Policy Manager, bringing health policy experience from New Zealand, Australia and the EU. Directly prior to working with us, she was Policy Manager at an EU NGO advocating for women’s health, and has held other roles in COVID-19 policy development, health system reform and evaluation of indigenous healthcare. Annie also holds an MA in Gender, Politics and International Relations.

Ali joined ADPH in 2021 to manage ADPH’s ICT and develop internal systems to maximise efficiency and to support the Business Manager in monitoring and reporting. Ali has a background in data analysis and systems management and has experience working for charities and not-for-profit organisations and is a Salesforce Certified Administrator. 

Laura joined ADPH in October 2022 as a Project Coordinator and is now our Special Projects Manager, working on two projects supporting DsPH to tackle the commercial determinants of health. After completing her degree in Animal Science, Laura worked as a Site Manager at a Covid-19 Vaccination Centre, coordinating community vaccination services throughout the pandemic.  

Yvette joined ADPH in 2016 and has extensive administration experience. Yvette also has over five years of experience working with mental health issues, as well as drug and alcohol addiction.  

Georgina joined ADPH in April 2024 to provide administrative support to the development, engagement, and communications team and now works as a project coordinator in our special projects team. After graduating with an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science, Georgina worked in the health sector as a receptionist and administrator for a GP surgery in Newcastle upon Tyne, before going on to study postgraduate Public Health. She graduated from her master’s degree in Public Health in September 2023.

Adam joined ADPH in October 2022 and supports the policy programme as well as the English HIV and Sexual Health Commissioners’ Group. After graduating with a degree in Psychology from the University of Kent, Adam worked for Kent County Council as a Business Support Officer for their public health team.

Jennifer joined ADPH in September 2024 to provide administrative support across the whole organisation, and now works as a project coordinator in the development, engagement, and communications team. After graduating with a degree in Geography, Jennifer worked in the Covid-19 Rapid Response Team at the UK Health Security Agency, and in the Climate Change Team at Northumberland County Council.

Charlie joined ADPH in September 2024 to support the development, engagement and communications team. After graduating with an integrated master’s in Medical Genetics from Swansea University, he worked as an account executive in a medical communications agency.

Emma joined ADPH in January 2025 as a Project Administrator. She holds an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences and a master’s degree in Global Health Policy. Prior to her current role, Emma has been working as an online science tutor and café supervisor.

Cecily joined ADPH in January 2025 as a Project Administrator in the External Affairs team. She holds an undergraduate degree in Applied Medical Sciences and a master’s degree in Public Health. Prior to her current role, Cecily volunteered with the Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and worked abroad as an English Language Assistant.
