The House of Lords Built Environment Committee Inquiry into New Towns

In 2025, the House of Lords Built Environment Committee has launched the second module of its inquiry into new towns and expanded settlements.

The inquiry focused on how to ensure that each new town and expanded settlement can become thriving, successful communities where families want to live and set down roots.

It considered the fundamentals of placemaking and design, and examined how the built environment can support happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives for residents.
