Bringing smoking prevalence to essentially zero during the expected lifetime of a child born today will prove transformative for our health, as well as the NHS’s financial sustainability, and the economy. As part of its ambition is to create a smoke-free UK and to shift the dial from sickness to prevention, the Government has called for evidence to support the Tobacco and Vapes Bill.
In our submission, we have outlined:
- Why it is important that the Government considers how vapes, which can be a helpful tool for smokers when trying to quit, are marketed to reduce their appeal to children and young people.
- Why we support the proposed licensing scheme, which includes an overarching objective to protect public health.
