Vision Zero for London is the Mayor of London’s goal to eliminate all deaths and serious injuries from London’s transport network by 2041. Almost 4,000 people are killed or seriously injured on London’s roads every year. Reducing road danger is a public health priority and is key to increasing physical activity through active travel, improving air quality and decarbonisation.

The Vision Zero action plan was published in July 2018 to set out measurable actions to the end of 2024 for TfL, the Met Police, boroughs and partners to reduce harm to Londoners. TfL are currently developing the second iteration of the Vision Zero Action Plan, to be published in 2025, to take actions towards our 2030 interim targets.

As boroughs are responsible for 95% of the roads in London, borough transport and public health colleagues are crucial in achieving Vision Zero across London. TfL will be publishing a guidance and advice note for borough colleagues to outline the actions they can take to support delivery of the target.

Amy Pidwill (TfL) and Katie Hunter (GLA Group Public Health Unit) will present to public health colleagues on Vision Zero Action Plan 2 and discuss ways for DsPH to support Vision Zero. We are keen to hear your views on the new focus areas.
