Donna Walker, Public Health Commissioner, Haringey Council

Donna Walker is a public health commissioner with a background in social work, programme development and youth services. Her career has been driven by a passion for prevention, health inequalities and improving outcomes for children and young people. Inspired by her early work supporting care leavers, asylum-seeking children and young migrants, she developed a strong understanding of the wider determinants of health and the importance of intervening early.

Today, Donna enjoys bringing together evidence, insight and partnership working to deliver practical solutions that improve health and wellbeing. She is particularly proud of developing Our Conversation, an early identification approach for young people around substance use and contributing to innovative work on youth vaping prevention and childhood vaccination uptake.

Passionate about leadership and lifelong learning, Donna has recently achieved UKPHR registration and believes that the most effective public health careers often follow unconventional paths. Outside work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as exploring arts, culture and travel.
