Angharad Judge, Senior Public Health Strategist, Haringey Council

Angharad Judge’s journey into public health began with an interest in nutrition and health sciences. However, a mumps outbreak during her university years became a defining moment. Observing the response from Public Health Wales, including outbreak management and vaccination efforts, sparked her curiosity about the broader systems that protect population health.

Since completing a Master’s degree in Public Health, Angharad has spent the last 9 years working across health protection, immunisation programmes, long-term conditions and public health intelligence. She has also achieved UK Public Health Register Practitioner status and recently submitted her specialist registration portfolio, marking another major milestone in her professional development.

Her proudest achievement is undoubtedly completing that specialist registration portfolio while balancing a demanding senior leadership role, public health examinations and additional projects outside her day-to-day responsibilities.

Currently, Angharad is particularly passionate about climate change and the health impacts of extreme heat. Working with colleagues across boroughs and sectors, she is helping develop innovative approaches to strengthen primary care preparedness and response during increasingly hot summers.

She believes patience and kindness are among the most important qualities in public health, whether applied to colleagues, communities or one’s own career development.
