One-Off MenB Vaccination Programme for Students Starting University

A one-off MenB vaccination programme will protect Year 13 students and under-25s starting university or residential further education in autumn 2026. Eligible students will receive two doses (July and August), with international students advised to get their first dose at home. The programme responds to rising MenB cases and recent outbreaks. MenB can be life-threatening, causing severe complications or death. It spreads through close contact, which is common in university settings. The initiative aims to protect those at highest risk while authorities assess whether further vaccination measures are needed.
