ADPH responds to the Government’s consultation on revitalising high streets

We have submitted our response to the Government’s consultation on revitalising high streets, highlighting that:

• The built environment is a fundamental determinant of health across the life course, including high streets, which directly shape community wellbeing by acting as central hubs for health services, transport links, green spaces, retail, and food.
• A Health in all Policies approach must be taken to revitalise high streets, including integrating health implications throughout planning decision making across all sectors and ensuring Directors of Public Health and their teams are central to the planning process.
• Access to green spaces and active travel must be improved, alongside understanding and addressing how clusters of health harming industries contribute to health inequalities.
