In our response to the Government’s consultation on a revised National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), we have highlighted:
- The importance of taking a health in all policies approach to spatial development.
- The role of health impact assessments.
- The insight public health teams are able to bring to development proposals to ensure that health considerations are given full consideration to any plans.
- The need to upgrade infra-structure to improve our resilience to climate change.
- The need to further promote active travel.
- The benefit of developing a housing policy which adheres to the Healthy Homes Principle.
- The importance of being able to control outdoor advertising to support people to live healthier lives.
- The role planning has to play in reducing health inequalities.
- The importance of green spaces in promoting mental and physical health and wellbeing.
- The need for clear guidance for LAs to follow to ensure restrictions on fast food outlets can be implemented effectively.
