ADPH welcomes DHSC funding to help end HIV transmissions by 2030

The Association of Directors of Public Health (ADPH) has welcomed the announcement of £1.5 million to support the public health campaign to end HIV transmissions in England by 2030, and the extension of the national HIV prevention programme.

Gillian McLauchlin, Co-Lead, ADPH Policy Advisory Group on Health Protection, said:

“We are very pleased to see that the Government recognises the key role that improving access to HIV testing and reducing the stigma that still surrounds HIV has to play in reducing the difference in outcomes for people living with HIV from different backgrounds.

“As well as improving public awareness, it is also essential that sexual and reproductive health services, which are paid for by the public health grant, are adequately resourced so prevention, advice and treatment can be provided to everyone, regardless of their background.

“Only by working together, on an individual, community, regional and national level, will be able to ensure that more people can be tested, treated and supported and continue to make good progress towards achieving the target of ending new HIV transmissions by 2030.”
