Election response
Responding to the General Election result, Greg Fell, President of the Association of Directors of Public Health, said:
“The nation’s health is declining, with increasing numbers of people suffering from largely preventable illness and disease. The only way to reverse this decline is to work together to create an environment where everyone has access to the things we need to be able to live healthy, fulfilling and productive lives, and that protect us from harm.
“This will require the new Government to take a bold approach that puts health at the heart of all policies, regardless of which department holds responsibility for them. It will also require cross-party collaboration, and partnership working across all sectors on a national and local level.
“We hope the new Government will take heed of our recommendations for creating a healthier nation, and we look forward to working constructively with them, and the political parties across all four nations, to support the improvement and protection of the public’s health.”
