Prof Jim McManus to step down as ADPH President

I know that our members and staff alike will join me in thanking Jim for his dedication and commitment throughout his time as Vice President and, most recently, President. We wish him every success and very much look forward to working with him in his new role in the future.

Nicola Close
ADPH Chief Executive

Following nearly nine years of service on our Board, Prof Jim McManus will be standing down from his role as ADPH President.

The move comes as Jim prepares to take on a new role in Public Health Wales.

Jim has played a pivotal role in raising the profile of Directors of Public Health, increasing awareness of the importance of partnership working at a local and national level to improve public health. Under his leadership, ADPH has gone from strength to strength to become a welcome and trusted contributor to national policy consultations and practice improvement initiatives throughout the UK.

Our Vice President, Greg Fell, Director of Public Health for Sheffield, will take the role of Acting President at the Association until the upcoming election.

Nicola Close, Chief Executive, ADPH, said:

“I know that our members and staff alike will join me in thanking Jim for his dedication and commitment throughout his time as Vice President and, most recently, President. We wish him every success and very much look forward to working with him in his new role in the future.”

Prof McManus said:

“I am full of excitement and anticipation about being part of Public Health Wales at the same time as being very sad to leave ADPH. It has been a privilege to serve the organisation in various ways for nearly 15 years but ADPH is, and will continue to be, a fantastic organisation.”
