35 years on from drink drive laws

To mark the 35th anniversary of the Road Traffic Act (1988) which made it an offence to drive under the influence of alcohol, we have published our new policy on alcohol.

In it, we set out a series of national and local recommendations that, if implemented, would see the number of alcohol related deaths fall and protect individuals, families, and communities from harm.
