Statement: Mass testing

The 'mass testing' pilots, in Liverpool and elsewhere, are vital to help build knowledge and understanding of the complex aspects of the testing proposition and the related science, logistics and public engagement.

Several Directors of Public Health are engaging in this process constructively - and ADPH supports them in doing so. As ADPH we will contribute to national discussions as these plans develop; and will facilitate learning between Directors of Public Health and partners, with a focus on efficacy and outcomes. 

It is important that the Government takes the time to evaluate and learn from these pilots, and make improvements wherever necessary, before considering rolling out a nationwide programme.
