NORTH EAST PUBLIC HEALTH CONFERENCE 2024
Our People, Communities and Challenges: Celebrating Diversity, Innovation and Collaboration
Over 170 colleagues from across the public health family joined this years Public Health conference to celebrate the diversity, innovation and collaboration of our people and communities.
It was such a pleasure to see so many people from across the region coming together to share the fantastic work and reflect on some of the challenges and opportunities to Public Health practice moving forward.
We were able to reflect on the power of Partnerships, our relationships and our collaboration which is at the heart of the work we do. We heard from inspirational speakers, focusing on the important topics that impact on the health of our communities and the innovations that are happening across our system, and we reflected on our wellbeing taking time to be active and embrace new experiences.
The energy and passion in the room was palpable and we’d like to thank everyone for attending, for connecting, being active, taking notice, learning and giving!
North East Public Health Conference 2024: Highlights
Sharing practice from across the North East
The North East Public Health Conference 2024 provided a unique opportunity to share and celebrate some of the fantastic work being undertaken across the region.
Following a phenomenal response to our call for abstracts, we received over 100 showcasing the plethora of work underway across the region to improve and protect the health of our population. The abstracts were submitted by a wide range of people from a variety of roles representing the diverse public health family across the North East. Through the conference we were only able to share a small number of the abstracts through the workshops, so we wanted to have an opportunity to share all those abstracts (where their authors gave consent for sharing) with our wider public health family.
This post-event pack includes summaries of all the abstracts submitted for the conference including those that were not presented on the day. We have also highlighted the shortlisted abstracts from our first North East Public Health awards selected by a small panel and presented by Professor Peter Kelly OHID/NHSE Regional Director of Public Health.
We hope the abstracts will provide useful information about projects and enable further networking and support your ongoing practice improvement.
Book Donations
At this year’s conference, we kindly asked our delegates to donate to one of our local charities in Newcastle as a way of giving back to our community. The charities we are supporting this year are Barnardo’s, Cornerstone Benwell (supporting those with learning disabilities) and North Tyneside Age UK (befriending service supporting elderly people who are lonely, isolated or housebound).
There was a phenomenal response to our call for donations with 100’s of wonderful books being donated to all 3 charities ahead of Christmas
A huge thank you to all our delegates for your extremely generous contributions
