EHSHCG Impact Report 2025/26: expertise, experience and knowledge in action

The new Impact Report from the English HIV and Sexual Health Commissioners’ Group (EHSHCG) shows what the group achieved in 2025/26 – and where we’re heading next.

Last year, more than 200 commissioning professionals took part in our activities, with an average of 155 attendees at each of our three Full Group Meetings. From global STI perspectives and UKHSA updates to a 10-Year Plan engagement session and a CAB-PrEP webinar that drew 145 participants, our programme delivered timely intelligence on the issues shaping local commissioning. 94% of respondents rated our sessions as excellent or good.

But bringing professionals together is only part of the picture. We published three insight and research reports, delivered commissioner climate checks capturing real intelligence on current practice and system pressures, and co-published the CAB-PrEP Briefing with the Association of Directors of Public Health – equipping local authority public health teams to plan for new injectable PrEP technologies.

Our commissioner voice reached the national stage too. We contributed to four national policy strategies and plans, including the next phase of the HIV Action Plan, the Syphilis Action Plan workshop, and proposed reforms to pharmacy contracts and emergency hormonal contraception delivery. And when Parliament’s Health and Social Care Select Committee held its inquiry into sexual health services, EHSHCG representative Rob Bacon gave oral evidence – putting prevention, service fragmentation and data on the record.

None of this happens in isolation. Partnership sits at the heart of our approach, and we thank our Executive Committee and all our partners who have supported us to achieve this impact.

This year, we will build on this work and, alongside our continuing programme of webinars, practice sharing and engagement, we’ll keep influencing national SRH and HIV policy – including the development of the new Sexual Health Framework; strengthen regional relationships and roles so commissioner voice is heard where decisions are made; support the implementation of innovative approaches from doxyPEP to injectable PrEP; and produce a chemsex toolkit to support local commissioning approaches.
