South East Healthy Weight Pledge launching April 2026
The South East Healthy Weight Pledge is a regional commitment led by the Association of Directors of Public Health (ADPH) and the Office for Health and Improvement and Disparities (OHID) South East.
This is a commitment to create a healthier, more equitable region where everyone can:
- Access affordable and nutritious food
- Have opportunities for affordable physical activity
- Be in an environment that promotes an inclusive healthy lifestyle.
Any organisation (for example, but not limited to Local Authorities, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), NHS Trusts, voluntary and community organisations, educational settings, care homes and local businesses) in the South East of England can commit to the Pledge, which has five priority areas:
- Prioritising children’s health and wellbeing from early years into adulthood
- Promoting equitable access to inclusive healthy weight services
- Improving food environments to address unhealthy diets
- Increasing physical activity and active transport across all ages
- Tackling stigma and discrimination related to weight and body image
Organisations who sign up to the pledge will be showing a strategic commitment to raising awareness of and addressing the impact of poor diet, food insecurity and physical inactivity in their area. The South East Healthy Weight Pledge is a call to action for organisations to work together towards a healthier, more equitable future. Together, we will lead by example to make lasting change for the South East.
