Systems Leadership – CPD Session Autumn 2026π
During October, we have two more online sessions in place as part of our CPD programme with a focus on system leadership. Lead by Debbie Sorkin from the Leadership Centre, these two separate sessions will each have a separate focus. Debbie has vast experience of leadership and is responsible within the Leadership Centre for a National Systems Leadership programme. This includes the provision of place-based support for leaders to help people develop their capacity to lead across organisational and sector boundaries.
Please see further details as well as times and dates, for each session below:

Workshop 1: The fundamentals: why things happen the way they do in a system, an what we can do to navigate a way through
Date and Time: Thursday 1st October from 9:45 β 12:00
Aims of the session:
- To create a safe space in which to make connections, build relationships and have honest conversations
- To look at what it means to work in VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) environments; the implications for when weβre working in complexity; what tends to happen in these situations; what to notice and what to avoid
- To introduce systems leadership approaches as a way of navigating a way through, particularly in relation to actions and behaviours, relationships and shared purpose
- To provide opportunities to reflect on how this resonates with us; what weβre facing at the moment; and how we might apply some of the ideas to real-time issues weβre dealing with

Date and Time: Tuesday 13th October from 9:45 β 12:00
Aims of the session:
- To create a safe space in which to make connections, build relationships and have honest conversations
- To set the scene by recapping briefly on what was covered in Workshop 1
- To look at what gets in the way, and at how we can deal systemically with some of the setbacks weβre likely to encounter
- To explore how we can work with power, process and different forms of influence to effect change when we donβt have direct positional power
- To provide opportunities to reflect on how this resonates with us; what weβre facing at the moment; and how we might apply some of the ideas to real-time issues weβre dealing with
