SUMMARY:Project Health Resilience Pilot Presentation
DESCRIPTION:Project Health Resilience pilot: An innovative education-based
health literacy programme for 16–19-year-old Londoners delivered by doct
ors in London settings\nBackground\nOur presentation would showcase the de
velopment and impact of an innovative health literacy pilot for 16-19-year
-old Londoners: Project Health Resilience (PHR). PHR is delivered in educa
tional/youth settings by doctors and public health specialists in a collab
 oration between NHS\, GLA\, UKHSA\, Camden council\, ADPH\, LSHTM\, Partne
rship for Young London\, and others.\n\nWe built on lessons from the pande
mic which highlighted the importance of trust and need to reduce health in
equalities by addressing a gap in health literacy when young people transi
tion to adulthood\, fostering core life skills to support their health and
their future families. Our multi-disciplinary team carried out extensive
co-production with teachers\, youth workers\, and young people\, to develo
p four bespoke health literacy modules: mental health resilience\, first a
id for young people\, how to access services\, and honest conversations ab
out screening and immunisations. The programme was designed together with
medical experts and academics to support robust evaluation throughout in p
artnership with LHSTM.\n\nOur model provides unique opportunities to be fa
ce-to-face with doctors in a safe space where young people can ask questio
ns and build trust. PHR also focuses on supporting care-leavers and those
in more vulnerable circumstances.\n\nPHR began as a Camden pilot and is no
w being rolled out across London. Key takeaways are to raise awareness of
how impactful health literacy education can be at this age\, how this can
reduce health inequalities\, and how trust and co-production were core pri
nciples for the pilot’s success. This presentation appeals to clinicians
\, public health professionals\, those working to reduce health inequaliti
es\, and to colleagues working in education or children’s services.\nLea
rning Objectives: \n1) The critical role co-production and trust plays whe
n developing public health interventions\n\n2) The importance of health li
teracy education for this age group and how this can fit into the wider NH
S prevention and inequalities agendas\n\n3) Understand what the Project He
alth Resilience pilot entails and the impact it has had\n\n&nbsp\;\nMeetin
