SUMMARY:LGA Lunch and Learn Session An introduction to governing the commer
 cial determinants of health in local councils
DESCRIPTION:The private sector affects the health and wellbeing of our resi
 dents both positively and negatively through the products they sell and th
 eir wider business practices. There is public support for evidence-based p
 olicies to tilt the balance of power in the wider economic and regulatory 
 system away from large corporations back to communities and government to 
 regulate in the public interest.\n\nThe commercial determinants of health 
 (CDOH) are the ways in which commercial actors and their products\, practi
 ces and broader influence affect people's health and health inequalities. 
 This spans everything from how products are designed\, priced and marketed
 \, through to corporate lobbying and the wider political and economic envi
 ronment in which businesses operate.\n\nIn this lunch and learn\, we will 
 hear from speakers who have developed evidence-informed guidance to suppor
 t this work as well as those who are introducing good governance policies
