DESCRIPTION:\n\nAn ever-increasing body of research indicates that the envi
 ronment in which we live is inextricably linked to our health across the l
 ife course.\n\nAspects of our environment that influence health and wellbe
 ing outcomes include but are not limited to housing and neighbourhood desi
 gn\, types of public spaces and access to services. This shapes physical a
 ctivity levels\, the food we eat\, travel patterns and social connectivity
 . If we can create places in which it is easy to have healthier behaviours
 \, we will help prevent many illnesses\, improve people’s lives and redu
 ce health and social care costs.\n\nThis virtual event\, presented by Prio
 r + Partners\, the Quality of Life Foundation\, two local councils\, and h
 osted by the Local Government Association\, introduces a comprehensive rep
 ort aimed at guiding councils in using their planning and public health po
 wers to promote healthier neighbourhoods. Delegates will gain insights fro
 m a decade of policy development\, understand the current powers councils 
 hold\, and learn from innovative areas showcasing effective practice.\n\nS
 peakers will also discuss gaps in national policy and present actionable r
 ecommendations at a local and national level to enhance councils' ability
