ADPH Annual Conference 2016
The Right to Health

The 2016 ADPH Annual Conference took place on 8th November at Woburn House, near Euston station in London. We heard the following presentations:
- The right to health needs public health; does public health need the right to health? by Professor Paul Hunt, Human Rights Centre, Essex University, former UN Special Rapporteur on the right to health;
- What causes wellness: the social determinants of health by Sir Harry Burns, Professor of Global Public Health at Strathclyde University and former CMO for Scotland;
- Competing rights implications for future generations by Dr Frank Atherton, CMO of Wales and former Deputy CMO of Health for Canada;
- The right to health through work by Dr Richard Heron, President, Faculty of Occupational Medicine and Vice President Health and Chief Medical Officer at BP.
